Last year, Arrow Planning had the privilege of participating in the inspiring ‘Bringing Nature Into the Workplace’ session hosted by Earth Trust. This event was part of their Corporate Membership initiative, which brings together a diverse group of like-minded businesses to explore how nature can become an integral part of daily operations.

The session, led by the engaging and insightful Victoria Ifould, centred around ‘Nature’s Workforce’ – a powerful resource developed by WWF, RSPB, and the National Trust. It challenged us to rethink traditional workplace routines and provided actionable ideas to incorporate nature into our work lives.

This collaborative experience was more than just an exchange of ideas; it was a call to action. It sparked a shift in our perspective and planted seeds (pun intended) for a greener, healthier workplace.

So…this year, we are thrilled to embark on our journey of bringing nature into our workplace. One of our first steps (and, I mean this literally!) is to swap indoor meetings for walk-and-talk catch-ups in the fresh air.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have stunning green spaces and tranquil woodlands just a short stroll from our office, and we’re going to make the most of them – come rain or shine. These natural settings offer so much more than a change of scenery or a chance to stretch our legs (although those benefits are valuable, too!), they represent a holistic approach to well-being, supporting our mental, physical, and emotional health. Who knows, perhaps in the future, “brainstorming” might actually involve storm clouds, but we’ll be ready with our umbrellas in hand!

Another way we’re connecting with nature in 2025 is through four planned Volunteer Days with The Chiltern Rangers. From past experiences, we know how energised and refreshed we feel after a day outdoors with the incredible Rangers. We always look forward to rolling up our sleeves and discovering muscles we didn’t know we had to make a positive impact on our local green spaces. The sense of accomplishment and boost we get stay with us long after we’re back in the office

In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, it’s easy to feel disconnected from the natural world around us. Yet, research consistently highlights the immense benefits of spending time outdoors. Nature offers a grounding force – a chance to pause, breathe deeply, and reset.

For our team, reconnecting with nature fosters more than individual well-being. It strengthens relationships, fuels creativity, and deepens our appreciation for the environment. By embedding nature into our work culture, we’re creating a space where health, happiness, and environmental stewardship thrive together.

And, as our green initiatives continue to grow, so has my role within the company. Alongside the financial operations, I’ve been taking on more sustainability efforts, helping to shape our approach to corporate social responsibility. One of the key projects I’ve been leading is achieving CSR accreditation—a goal that has been in progress for some time and we have now been awarded with a Silver CSR Accreditation. This milestone marks an important step in our sustainability journey and reinforces our dedication to responsible business practices.

We’re eager to see how this journey continues to enrich our workplace culture and supports our team’s well-being. As Earth Trust reminds us, making nature a fundamental part of how we work and live isn’t just beneficial – it’s essential. And we couldn’t agree more.
