Graduate Planner - University of York Internship

Tom Cumberland

Tom joined Arrow in summer 2025 as part of a placement year with the University of York where he is two years into his degree in Environment, Economics, and Ecology. With a strong passion for sustainable development and environmental conservation, Tom is excited to bring his academic learning into real-world planning practice. Analytical and solutions-focused, Tom has a natural ability to get to the heart of complex planning and land use challenges. His drive to contribute to sustainable, well-designed places makes him a great fit for the Arrow team.

Tom's Role

During his time with Arrow, Tom will be gaining valuable insight into the planning system and the built environment, supporting the team with site research and contributing to the preparation of planning documents across a diverse range of projects. His energy, curiosity, and fresh perspective are a great asset to our evolving team.

Away from Arrow

Outside of work, Tom is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys running and football. When he’s not out being active, he’s likely spending time with friends and family. Fun fact: Tom was born in Thailand, speaks fluent French, and now lives in the green city of Milton Keynes – a combination that adds a global edge to his local passion.
